Photos shows the plot prior to commencing excavation for the foundations.
A very exciting time for us.
Cutting Foundations
Due to the nature of the existing ground, deep strip foundations were required.
The area had previously been filled and a vegitation layer was found during excavation. It was necessary to excavate min 300mm below this vegetaion layer.

.
Some 36 cubic metres of concrete has been used, with founding levels up to 2.00m below existing ground level. The previous filling also made it necessary to design a fully suspended floor slab, this is a building regulation requirement if more than 600mm of fill exists below a floor slab. The principle being, if any fill material collapses or settles the slab is self suporting
Suspended Slab
Blockwork, filling to underside of slab, insulation, damp proof membane and steel are all installed to this point ready to pour concrete.
Once concrete is layed scafolding was erected to allow ease of installation for the Timber Frame.
